To mark the 75th anniversary of independence, the Border Security Force (BSF) will organise a motorcycle rally from Shillong to New Delhi, from September 1 to 16.
This is one of a series of events organised by the force to mark 75 years of independence, such as performances by the BSF bands, friendly volleyball and football matches with Border Guards Bangladesh, photo exhibitions and cultural programmes, running from July to December this year under the BSF Eastern Command HQ.
The bike rally aims to raise awareness on national integration. Participants will also interact with school children, NCC volunteers and youths in several cities en route. The rally will also spread awareness on drugs, smuggling and short films on the BSF to highlight the role and task of the force.
A total of 30 motorcyclists – 15 from the Jaanbaaz Motorcycle Team and 15 from the Seema Bhawani Motorcycle Team – will participate in the rally.
Meghalaya Director General of Police Lajja Ram Bishnoi will flag off the rally from the BSF’s Sector HQ here on September 1 in the presence of BSF Meghalaya Inspector General Inderjit Singh Rana.
The rally will pass through Guwahati, Dhubri, Siliguri, Balurghat, Berhampore, Kolkata, Dhanbad, Aurangabad (Prayagraj), Kanpur and Agra in the states of Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and finally terminate at Delhi.
