Union Minister of State Raosaheb Danve came away satisfied after a review meeting to ascertain the progress of development projects in Ri-Bhoi, one of more than 100 so-called aspirational districts in the country.
The Minister of State for Railways, Coal and Mines attended the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and others.
Danve also visited an Anganwadi centre in Umdihar, health and wellness centre in Umsawnongkharai and Saiden village where he interacted with self-help group members.
Danve said that schemes are being implemented properly and indicators are positive that Ri-Bhoi is developing well after being identified as an aspirational district by the central government.
Ri-Bhoi has gone from 107 in the ranking of aspirational districts to 50 today.
The MoS also said that the district has done remarkable work and successfully utilised the funds granted to it under the scheme and he hoped that Ri-Bhoi’s ranking among other aspirational districts will remain high.
