AITC chief whip, George B Lyngdoh has stated that appointment of so-called experts or consultants in various government departments has landed the state in a mess.
He said most of them do not know the state and it is because of this, that government schemes have failed.
“In the last four and half years all the schemes designed by the government have failed because these so-called consultants have been swindling the resources of the state and don’t even understand the ground realities,” Lyngdoh stated.
On the engagement of the international body of experts to effectively manage the extreme traffic woes in the city, he said, “Everything is murky when it comes to the selection of such kind of agencies and we don’t want to see any agency in the name of expertise to swindle away with the resources of the state,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the State government has informed the Meghalaya High Court that it has engaged an international body of experts in traffic management and after its initial report is received, the government would take steps to implement the short-term goals and obtain resources for long-term action to deal with traffic congestion in Shillong city.
