The Indian Air Force (IAF) was pressed into service after the government sought its assistance in relief operations in South West Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills district of the State.
The IAF air-lifted essential commodities to Maheskhola in South West Khasi Hills district since yesterday.
“Today six sorties were flown and 2.4 ton of load was landed at Maheshkola”, the IAF said, adding, they have also received request from the State government to airdrop relief material Mahadev and Siju.
