Pearly Dew Higher Secondary School registered an emphatic 5-1 win over St. Anne Secondary School at the opening match of the VIII Interschool Knock-Out Football tournament today.
Beltes Nongtnger scored three goals for the school as another two goals were scored by Pyndaplang Syiemlieh. Kyrshan Khyriem was the lone scorer for St Anne’s Secondary School.
The tournament is being organised by the Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP), Mawlai circle after a gap of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Circle president Khrawkupar Nongsiej informed that altogether 14 schools located in three localities—Mawlai, Mawkhar and Jaiaw—participated in the tournament.
He said the aim of the tournament was to keep students physically fit apart from becoming educationally strong in schools.
