Mock exercises simulating an earthquake was conducted the district level offices of the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department by involving teachers and students in it.
The exercise was held to create awareness on earthquake disaster preparedness for schools all over the State as teachers, students and staff teachers were trained on basic search and rescue, basic first aid and evacuation drill to mitigate the effects of earthquake and other disasters.
The school covered under the exercise of the department, which is also part of the yearlong celebration of 50th Anniversary of Statehood, were Chengkom Me’dik Secondary School, Ampati, Duramong Secondary School, Siju, Simsangre School Williamnagar, Resubelpara Government School in North Garo Hills and Bolchugre Secondary School, Tura.
Last week the department covered Sati Raja School, Umsning, Lumjingshai Upper Primary School, Domjyrti-Rangmaw and Sibsing Memorial Government Higher Secondary School, Nongstoiñ.
