Agriculture minister Banteidor Lyngdoh has assured subsidy payments on urea.
The assurance was given to a delegation of traditional heads led by social activist, Egenstar Kurkalang who met him today in his chamber with a plea to end hardships of farmers.
Kurkalang told reporters that the minister said that has directed concerned officials to work out on the subsidy and implement it for the benefit of farmers in the state.
He said that the farmers are dependent on urea for farming but owing to the adamant attitude of the previous government they have been deprived of the subsidies putting the farmers in financial hardships and distress.
He informed that the farmers are currently purchasing urea at Rs 1400 per bag instead of the actual price of Rs 250-280 as per the subsidies rate issued by the Ministry of Chemical and fertilizers.
