Meghalaya has again seen a growth in GST revenues during April this year.

As per the data from the Union Finance Ministry, Meghalaya’s GST revenue generated for April 2022 was Rs 227 crore.

On a year-on-year basis, this is a jump of 10 per cent from the GST revenue of Rs 206 crore collected in April 2021.

It may be mentioned that in March 2022, the total GST revenue for the State was Rs 181 crore as compared to Rs 152 crore in March 2021.

Meanwhile, among the North East states, Arunachal Pradesh saw the biggest increase in GST revenue collection in April this year at Rs 196 crore, a jump of 90 per cent as compared to April 2021 which was Rs 103 crore.

It was followed by Nagaland which saw a jump of 32 per cent. In April this year, the GST revenue generated by Nagaland was Rs 68 crore as compared to Rs 52 crore in April last year.

Assam also recorded a jump of 14 per cent in GST revenues. In April this year the total GST collection was 1313 crore as compared to Rs 1151 crore in April last year.

Sikkim on the other hand saw an increase of only 2 per cent. Its GST revenue for April this year was Rs 264 crore whereas in April last year it was Rs 258 crore.

The states in North East which recorded less GST revenue are Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Mizoram in April this year collected only Rs 46 crore as compared to Rs 57 crore in April last year which was a decrease of 19 per cent. Tripura in April this year generated Rs 107 crore as compared to Rs 110 crore in April last year, a decrease of 3 per cent.

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of April, 2022 is Rs 1,67,540 crore of which CGST is Rs 33,159 crore, SGST is Rs 41,793 crore, IGST is Rs 81,939 crore (including Rs 36,705 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 10,649 crore (including Rs 857 crore collected on import of goods).

The gross GST collection in April 2022 is all-time high, Rs 25,000 crore more than the next highest collection of Rs. 1,42,095 crore, just last month.

The government has settled Rs 33,423 crore to CGST and Rs 26962 crore to SGST from IGST. The total revenue of Centre and the States in the month of April 2022 after regular settlement is Rs 66,582 crore for CGST and Rs 68,755 crore for the SGST.
