The Hima Khatar Lyngdoh in Ri-Bhoi organised its fifth annual meet with an aim to restore and preserve the native identity and culture.
This meet was held at Mawphrow village in which Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem was the chief guest in the presence of two local MDCs – Balajied Rani and Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong – traditional leader of Hima Khatar Lyngdoh, Wanphrang Syiem, headmen, government officers and local residents.
The Nongpoh MLA lauded the initiative taken by the Hima for organizing such events.
“Any tribes or societies who have no identity of their own is a lost tribe,” Syiem said.
The meet was also enthralled by the traditional songs and dance performances by local groups of the Hima.
