Senior IPS officer Idashisha Nongrang has been appointed as the Special Director General Police of the State.
Nongrang is the first woman to hold the post in the Police Department.
Presently, Nongrang is the Additional DGP. Her promotion to the post of Special DGP was recommended by the Civil Services Board.
Pending appointment of a full-fledged DGP, Nongrang will temporarily look after the office of DGP after the retirement of incumbent police chief R Chandranathan on December 31.
Meanwhile, IPS officer Vikash Kumar has been appointed as Additional Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills.
Another IPS officer, Dara Aswaghosh was appointed as the Second in Command of Second MLP Battalion, Tura.
