The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides (MBSG) celebrated the 71st Foundation Day and Flag Day at its headquarters here today with Chief Electoral Officer F R Kharkongor as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion Kharkongor congratulated all the awardees and mentors who have played a major role in motivating, inspiring and shaping the young Scouts and Guides and in moving forward despite many challenges.
He said that the event is very significant especially with the onslaught of Covid-19 pandemic in the last two years where students have faced a lot of uncertainties, besides putting on hold several programmes of the movement including social – mobilisation of students, camps and jamborees. He added that it is a joyous moment to celebrate the day in a befitting manner.
Kharkongor also stressed on the need for digital units in the form of online modes/platforms in which the young Scouts and Guides can bond and interact with each other for a sufficient development.
Kharkongor, who is also the vice president of MBSG, urged the robust, dynamic and vibrant youth organisation to take active part in the celebration of the 50 years of statehood and also in the celebration of 75 years of India’s independence.
At the celebration, the Rajya Puraskar certificates to 20 Guides, seven Rangers, six Scouts and three Rovers were handed by the chief guest. Meritorious awards and Achievements to Adult Leaders were also presented.
Meanwhile, P. Ryngksai was inducted as the new state treasurer of the MBSG.
