The Moolait Bri Sutnga Committee of Moolait village, East Jaiñtia Hills District in collaboration with BASIN via Community Let Landscape Management Project (CLLMP) successfully planted 2400 saplings including fruit trees.
The saplings were planted adjacent to a catchment area near Thanglooh river and a total expenditure of Rs 1.73 lakh was also spent to clean and maintain the catchment area and the river.
VNRMC secretary, Readiness Syrti informed that the PH value of the water in the river has increased after the cleaning is done and the water sample will be tested in the laboratory to confirm if the water is drinkable.
The committee together with the Basin also planted 4500 saplings at Kseh Latyut, Pohshnong, along the Bri Raid road and the football field in the area.
