A doctor was arrested over illegal medical termination of pregnancy, police said on Friday.
Dr Dolan S R Marak of Reservegittim, Tura was arrested from Williamnagar. He had recently been transferred to Tura but was due to join his new posting.
Police said the doctor was arrested on the basis of the statement given by a minor victim girl that she was taken forcefully to the said doctors clinic for the termination of the foetus after she was allegedly impregnated by her own brother-in-law.
During the course of enquiry, records were found that implicated the doctor in many illegal termination of pregnacies involving minor girls, police added.
