The Central Puja Committee (CPC) has requested the state government to issue specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) so that upcoming Hindu religious rituals and festivals can be carried out.
In a letter to Chief Secretary MS Rao yesterday, the CPC thanked the government for taking the decision to reopen places of worship from August 16.
CPC general secretary JL Das also said that nearly every priest in Meghalaya, their assistants and members of temple managing committees have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
He therefore requested the government to issue SOPs so that Hindus can celebrate the end of the holy month of Shravan and draft specific guidelines for October’s Durga Puja as well as Kali Puja, Diwali and Chhat Puja.
This year’s Durga Puja theme will be based on the need for Covid-19 vaccination, Das added.
