The Congress Party in Meghalaya could have a new president very soon, according to one of its sitting MLAs, Himalaya Shangpliang.
Speculation is that MLAs Charles Pyngrope and Ampareen Lyngdoh or Shillong MP Vincent H Pala are the favourites.
“We have been assured that the state Congress will be getting a new president very soon since Celestine Lyngdoh (the incumbent president) has also expressed his willingness to leave this responsibility and the party high command has also thought about this matter in depth and we will soon get a new president,” Shangpliang said.
