Wine shops and bonded warehouses will close in Greater Shillong from May 1 to 10, the Deputy Commissioner announced today.
The 10-day period is when enhanced containment measures will come into force in Greater Shillong, Jowai and Tura to try and halt the spread of Covid-19.
Canteens and outstills will also have to close during this period.
However, home delivery has been permitted for wine shops that possess home delivery licences and which obtain valid passes issued by the DC.
All bars, hotels and clubs that have a licence to serve alcohol on the premises, will also be closed until May 10 in Greater Shillong.
Meanwhile, use of public transport from May 1 to May 10 is restricted. Only 25 per cent of local taxis, buses and auto-rickshaws are allowed to operate.
