The District Medical and Health Officer of Ri-Bhoi has filed an FIR against two persons who were accused of assaulting an ASHA worker in Umjarasi village recently.
The incident occurred on April 24 while the accredited social health activist (ASHA) was undertaking her Covid-19 duties in the village.
The Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union then filed a complaint yesterday with the Deputy Commissioner and today the DMHO registered the FIR with Nongpoh police.
The DC appealed to all Ri-Bhoi residents to cooperate with government employees in fighting the sharp spike in Covid-19 and warned that action will be taken against those who interfere in their work. Ri-Bhoi currently has the second-highest number of active coronavirus cases in the state at 143.
