Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Secretary Bajop Pyngrope has sounded a note of extreme confidence with regards to the performance of the Congress in the Assam state election and in tomorrow’s Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) polls.
“We are certain that the Congress will form the executive committee in the GHADC because the NPP (National People’s Party) is only strong in South Garo Hills,” Pyngrope told Highland Post.
Stating that the people in Garo Hills are fed up with the NPP, Pyngrope added that the GHADC results will be an indicator of the next State elections, which are due by 2023.
The KHADC member had also campaigned for the party in Assam recently and he said that the Congress will emerge victorious in Lower and Central Assam and capture a majority of seats there.
“We are certain to win about 60 per cent of the total seats in Lower and Central Assam and if we get a minimum of 10 seats in Upper Assam we will form the government in Assam as well,” he said.
