Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds wreaked havoc in the Wapungskur market on Wednesday.
According to Waheh Shnong of Wapungskur Satly Ryngkhlem, at least three shopkeepers were injured. Many shops in the market collapsed and unroofed, he said.
Officials from the district administration and the Block Development Officer took stock of the situation. One of the people injured was Nuhu Sheikh while details of the other two injured persons are not made available till filing of this report.
Furthermore, two houses were damaged at Tuber Kmaishnong. No injuries were reported.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted heavy rains from March 29 to April 1 and warned of thunderstorm, lightning, hail and gusty winds of speed reaching 40-50 kmph during this period.
