A special investigation team has been constituted by East Khasi Hills district police to investigate into the Golflinks assault that led to the death of a youth.
The seven-member team will be headed by Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem and will take over the investigation, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger told reporters today.
He informed that the team has been asked to complete the investigation at the earliest possible.
Pherlangroi Myrthong (20) succumbed to his injuries at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on Sunday, a week after he along with his friends were assaulted at Golflink area on March 21.
No arrest has been made by the police so far.
