The foundation for Rs 64.12 crore upgrades to the Mawmaram-Nongthliew-Mawmih-Mawlyndep Road was laid today by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong at Mawlaingut, East Khasi Hills.
The 41.527 kilometre project is expected to be completed in 2023. The upgrades have been sanctioned through the World Bank-funded Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project.
In his speech, Tynsong said that agriculture and tourism activities will receive a boost once the project is completed.
Also present was Speaker of the Assembly, Metbah Lyngdoh, who stressed on the importance of rural connectivity.
