Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told the Assembly today that the state government is continuing to pursue the creation of the Central Agriculture University in Kyrdemkulai, Ri-Bhoi, with the central government.
“The government is still committed to the cause. The university means a lot to the state,” Sangma said during Question Hour.
The Chief Minister informed that the government has released an amount of Rs 5.5 crore for the land at Kyrdemkulai.
Sangma said that the government of India has utilised the said gifted land to set up a constituent College of Agriculture affiliated to the existing Central Agriculture University in Imphal.
He also informed that the government handed over land measuring 18 acres located at Umktieh (Umiam) to the CAU Imphal for the college.
