BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai who is currently camping in New Delhi yesterday met Union Minister of Sports and Youth affairs Kiren Rijiju seeking support in developing the Shillong Cantonment ground for the National Games 2022.
Shullai also stressed on the need to organize a youth development programme funded by the central government. In this regard various stake holders ranging from various socio-cultural societies, sporting clubs and other organisations could be involved for implementation of various developmental programmes.
He said through the development programmes local youths will have a platform and infrastructure to initiate multi disciplinary programmes and would also channelize potential of youth in the right direction.
The MLA also sought the party’s support in mobilizing the developmental program with a greater focus on South Shillong constituency. This he said would give the party karyakartas a shot in the arm to strengthen the party base in the state.
The Union Sports Minister assured that fund for development of Shillong Cantonment ground and other matters raised by Shullai.
