Power minister James PK Sangma has sought the centre’s intervention in revoking the restrictions at NERLDC whereby Meghalaya had to resort to power shutdown in the entire state.
In a meeting with Union power minister RK Singh in New Delhi today, Sangma apprised him of the current power issue in the State and informed him about the Letter of Credit (LC) for the NTPC.
He said that the LC has restricted Short Term Open Access (STOA) through NERLDC resulting in the disruption of power in the State.
Sangma also informed the Union Minister that the government had already expressed its commitment to repay outstanding energy dues and late payment surcharges by availing Rs. 1,345 crore Atma Nirbhar Bharat scheme loan and even disbursing Rs. 100 crore out of the Rs. 630 crore of the same to the NTPC from the first tranche.
