State Planning Board Chairman, Lambor Malngiang, today promised that the state government will aggressively pursue the Inner Line Permit (ILP) issue during the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Shillong next month.
“We are waiting for Shah’s visit in March because ILP for Meghalaya runs in our veins. We have passed the resolution on this matter on the floor of the house and we will keep demanding ILP for Meghalaya and pursue this matter aggressively this time,” he told Highland Post.
Stating that there is no clear indication to date about what reservation the central government has regarding ILP in the state, he said, “We want a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ answer and if it’s ‘No’ we need to know the reason. We will not accept a ‘No’ without reason and keep pressing for ILP.”
Meanwhile, Malngiang stated that load shedding in the last few days was due to excess dues the government owed to NEEPCO.
Stating that the Covid-19 pandemic has added to the state’s miserable financial condition, Malngiang, however, said that the government made a positive move by doing away with load shedding and also by bringing down the price of fuel.
“I regret all these hardships the people have to face but we assure you that the government will continue to give its best to serve the people of the state,” he said, adding that the state will have to seek financial support from the central government for the various hardships that await.
