Health Minister, Alexander L. Hek inaugurated the Syntung Health Sub Centre at Syntung village under Mawkynrew C&RD Block today.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Hek said that the objective of the opening of the Syntung Health Sub Centre is to make healthcare services more accessible to people in the rural areas especially to women to improve health habits, spread awareness on family planning to reduce maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate. He also urged upon the people of the areas to take advantage of the healthcare facilities available in the Centre.
East Khasi Hills District Medical Health Officer, Dr. M. R. Basaiawmoit informed that the Syntung Health Sub Centre under Jatah PHC would benefit more than 4000 residents of five villages of the areas which include Syntung, Mawjatap, Siangkhnai, Mawlang and Nonghulew.
Agriculture Minister and local MLA Banteidor Lyngdoh, Dr. A. Lyngdoh, Additional DMHO, East Khasi Hills, L. T. Tariang, BDO, Mawkynrew C&RD Block, Robert Pale, Sordar Syntung village were also present at the function.
