Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem stressed today on the need for the district headquarters of Ri-Bhoi to have its own medical college, a deserved facility given the district’s ‘aspirational’ tag.
Ri-Bhoi is one of 117 districts in the country that have been selected by the Transformation of Aspirational Districts Programme with the aim to quickly and effectively develop them.
With education and health being two indicators in the programme, “there is the possibility of getting a medical college” if the state government pushes the Centre enough on the subject, Syiem told a public function here today.
