The State government has revised rates for Covid-19 tests in the State aimed to make them affordable to the community.
Health Commissioner& Secretary Sampath Kumar informed that as per the revised rates the cost of CBNAAT is at Rs 3000, TruNAT Rs 1500, RT-PCR at Rs 1000 and Rs 500 for Rapid Antigen Test.
Kumar said the new revised rates will be effective from Thursday.
Earlier, the State government had priced RT-PCR, CBNAAT, and TruNAT at Rs 3200.
Kumar said all those who require to be tested at the entry Points will be charged as per approved rates.
However, members of Below Poverty Line (BPL) households (yellow and pink National Food Security Act (NFSA) cardholders) may avail of tests on medical advice free of charge at government facilities. The testing slots shall be subject to availability and testing in private facility will be on payment basis, he added.
All those who have been identified as High Risk contact in the containment zones and those advised by the Health Department officials, will be tested free of cost.
Persons (including MHIS Cardholders) who desires to get tested with RTPCR/CBNAAT/TruNAT on their own without a medical advice shall approach facilities for getting tested on payment of the relevant cost of the test.
