The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) East Jaintia Hills Unit has demanded the immediate removal of the Border Security Force (BSF) check point from Sonapyrdi village in East Jaintia Hills.
In a recent letter to Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills, the PDF alleged that the check point was set up illegally by the BSF.
PDF East Jaintia Hills District president Shiborlang Lamare said that the presence of the BSF check point at Sonapyrdi posed threat to local villagers especially women.
He also alleged that BSF personnel manning the check point used to manhandle people and also restrict movement of villagers.
The PDF leader also said that local headmen and villagers are in favour of immediate removal of the BSF check point from Sonapyrdi.
