Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today took up the issue of the imprisonment of Jesuit priest Fr Stan Swami with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed that Sangma also had a detailed discussion with the Union Home Secretary on the issue.
Catholic and citizens groups have appealed to Sangma to take up the matter of Fr Stan’s arrest by the National Investigation Agency earlier this month. He was arrested in connection with the controversial Bhima Koregaon-Elgar Parishad case from 2017-18.
