South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai yesterday laid the foundation stone for the Ductile Iron Pipe System of Additional Water Supply to Madan Laban Areas from Patakhana Water Source, Madan Laban sanctioned under AMRUT Scheme of PHE Department and Shillong Municipal Board at an amount of Rs. 23,00,505.
The foundation stone was also laid for the Ductile Iron Pipe System of Additional Water Supply to St. John Areas from Sibnath Water Source, Madan Laban sanctioned under AMRUT Scheme at an amount of Rs. 38,41,800.
The total sanction amount of both the schemes is Rs. 61, 42,305.
Addressing the occasion, Shullai assured that the implementation of the project will be started immediately without any delay.
He lauded the efforts put by the officials of the PHE Department and Shillong Municipal Board and the active participation by the Dorbar Shnong of Madan Laban and Riat Laban and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the landowners who have donated their land free of cost.
Shullai informed that the implementation of the water supply project will address the problem related to the shortage and the huge leakage of the water supply in the areas.
The programme was chaired by R G Marbaniang, Secretary Dorbar Shnong, Madan Laban and the welcome address was given by Ioster Sun, Rangbah Shnong in the presence of Ricky Shullai, Vice-Chairman MTDC Ltd among others.
