The emergency Executive Durbar of Mawmluh Sirdarship held today has reiterated its stand that the State government should continue to run the Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL).
The Executive Durbar also deplored the delaying tactics of the government by remaining silent since the talk it had with the representatives from Mawmluh Sirdarship and Hima Sohra on July 22 this year.
“There was no categorical resolution taken in that meeting. Though the willingness of the government to bring in a Joint Venture or PPE mode was voiced by the Chief Minister and the other participants from the government’s side, the fact of the matter is that no conclusive decision was arrived at. The meeting ended with the Chief Minister’s request that the stakeholders should ponder on the three options discussed and that at the same time the government would study the points proposed by the stakeholders,” Acting Sirdar of Mawmluh, J S Rajee said in a statement issued today.
“Now it comes as a surprise to us to be informed that during the Board Meeting on September 29, the Directors representing Mawmluh Sirdarship and Hima Sohra were informed that the meeting on July 22 was conclusive and that the participants from both Mawmluh Sirdarship and Hima Sohra had accepted that the only way out for MCCL is to go for a Joint Venture or a PPE mode. This is unacceptable and shows that the Government had pre planned to wash its hand off this Company and give it to some party with whom it had already conspired,” Rajee added.
Meanwhile, the Executive Durbar has resolved to urge the State government to re-examine this thorny issue from all angles. It has also resolved that should the government bulldoze its way into doing what is against the interest of the public at large, the people of Mawmluh Sirdarship will be compelled to stage “legitimate modes of agitation”
