Following the massive landslide at the Shillong By-Pass in Thangshalai area, Sordar of Mawryngkneng village Peter Lawai has lodged an FIR against contractors for alleged shoddy work that led to the landslide.
In an FIR filed at the Mawryngkneng police station, Lawai said that the landslide that occurred on September 26 has affected movement of goods and people through Shillong By-Pass.
“This by-pass was constructed for the convenience of commuters but the poor quality of work by contractors and haphazard earth cutting has led to this disaster. An inquiry is needed to find all the facts so that those involved in poor quality construction of this road are identified and punished as per law,” Lawai said.
