South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai yesterday inaugurated and officially handed over the newly constructed school building of Bengalee Boys Higher Secondary School, Laban sanctioned at Rs 1,83,78,000 under the “Supporting Human Capital Development Project” supported by Asian Development Bank.
Shullai said that the project will address the problem related to the student community especially the students who belong to the poor section of the society of 19 South Shillong Constituency in particular and Meghalaya in general.
The programme was chaired by Jona Goswami, Vice-Principal. The welcome address was given by Dr. S K Chattapadhyay, President of the Managing Committee of the School, and Dr. Rinku Bhattacharjee, Principal of the School in the presence of teachers and members of the managing committee of the school, Laban headman Edward Kharwanlang and secretary Joy Rynjah.
The programme was also attended by the engineers and officials of the PWD Building, engineers and officials of the ADB Project team, and members of the MCIC 19th South Shillong Constituency.
All the speakers in the programme lauded the sustained effort of Shullai in bringing various kinds of the developmental scheme within the entire South Shillong Constituency.
