New guidelines for “high-risk government functionaries” will allow them to be discharged just seven days after testing positive for Covid-19 if they are asymptomatic, it was revealed by the Health and Family Welfare Department today.
These functionaries may apply for discharge after one week of quarantine provided that they are tested on the first day with the rapid antigen test (RAT). If this test comes back negative and they remain asymptomatic then they must quarantine for seven days. Between the fifth and sixth days they must then undergo an RT-PCR, CBNAAT or TRUNAT test, which, if negative, will allow them to obtain a discharge certificate and resume their official duties.
If the RT-PCR, CBNAAT or TRUNAT test comes back positive, then they will have to undergo 10 days of isolation.
