Shillong, Jul 2: Amid the Covid-19 crisis, the United Democratic Party (UDP) Mawpran primary unit, under Pynursla Constituency today donated 11 quintals of rice to 120 households of Mawpran village.
The rice was distributed in the presence of UDP Mawpran unit president, A Khongbuh, headman of Mawpran village Pynskhemborlang Khongmalai among others.
The UDP members informed that they collected the funds for procuring the rice from among the UDP members after learning that many households in the village who do not have a ration card were deprived of the rice.
“There are many households with many family members who do not have ration cards are not getting rice from the government and there are also some families comprising orphans who are also deprived of the rice,” the UDP members said while adding that they have distributed the rice with no political motive at all but just to reach out to the poor.
