Khliehriat, Oct 28: The East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner’s office recently organised a collection drive under ‘Project Mynried’ — a welfare initiative to support underprivileged children aged 1 to 15 years.
The drive, attended by Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar along with Project Head F. Passah, Additional Project Heads EA Sangma and Dr. N. Dkhar, and MCSWA Programme Manager Renibeth Patlong, received an encouraging response.
Around 300 articles including clothes, toys, books, shoes and other essentials were collected from 18 donors from the DC’s office.
The donated items will be distributed to underprivileged children across the district.
Project Mynried, implemented under the supervision of the DC, encourages government employees to donate children’s old wearable clothes, textbooks and other usable items.
A District Management Unit has been constituted to coordinate collection, segregation and distribution in collaboration with departments, with Fair Price Shops to act as collection centres.
The administration said every donor will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
