Shillong, Oct 19: Fed up with irregular and delayed salaries, thousands of teachers under the Structured Pay Framework (SPF) will converge at Student Field, Jaiaw on October 24 to chalk out their future course of action.
The Meghalaya Unified Teachers Association (MUTA) has convened the general meeting to press for regular disbursement of salary by the first day of every month and full payment in a single instalment for SSA and RMSA teachers.
The association said teachers have been facing acute financial hardship due to delayed release of salaries in parts and has sought streamlining of financial procedures.
Apart from salary regularity, the meeting will also demand inclusion under the Sixth State Pay Commission and uniform service conditions including leave, maternity benefits and medical reimbursement.
