Shillong, Oct 14: Former Meghalaya minister and senior Congress leader Chamberline B Marak passed away on Wednesday. He was 80.
Marak, who represented Bajengdoba Assembly constituency in North Garo Hills, was associated with the Congress during former Chief Minister Salseng C Marak’s tenure in the 1990s. Known for his academic background and literary interests, he was admired for his poetry and command over English literature.

“His contribution to the State will always be remembered,” Sangma said in a Facebook post.
Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma also condoled the death, remembering him as a distinguished leader noted for vast political knowledge and oratory skills.
“Throughout his public life, he made valuable contributions to the development and welfare of the people of Meghalaya,” the Speaker said, conveying condolences on behalf of all House members.
