Shillong, Oct 14: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has rolled out biometric attendance to check late-coming and ensure accountability.
Chief Executive Member Winston Tony Lyngdoh told the House today that the system came into effect from September 1, 2026, replying to a question by UDP MDC Titosstarwell Chyne during the Winter Session.
Judicial officers and elected MDCs are exempted. Field staff, forest and enforcement personnel will continue with manual registers maintained by supervisors, with next-day punching after prior intimation to SPV, Lyngdoh said.
Four machines have been installed in Shillong at a cost of over Rs 4.59 lakh. For branches outside Shillong, implementation will depend on internet connectivity and feasibility, he added.
