Shillong, Oct 14: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today released the second and final instalment of the Umbrella Post-Matric Scholarship for ST students for 2025-26 at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong.
Sangma also inaugurated the renovated PG Block Biotechnology Department & Bio-Informatics Lab and Computer Lab under CM’s Skills Mission and RUSA 2.0.
The CM said scholarships are a top concern for students. “Today I am happy to release the scholarship and live up to your expectations,” he said, adding that the DBT process has started.
He said some payments are pending as Aadhaar is not seeded with active bank accounts or PFMS response is awaited. “Departments have been directed to monitor and re-process every pending case until each eligible student is paid,” he said, urging students to ensure their accounts are active and Aadhaar-seeded.
For 2025-26, 96,801 students were verified. Of them, 88,061 (91%)—52,839 fresh and 35,222 renewals—have received full scholarship. Total fund released is Rs 198.43 crore in two instalments — Rs 93.95 crore first and Rs 104.48 crore second — with 90 per cent centre and 10 per cent state share.
