Shillong, Oct 12: The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) and NGOs from Pedaldoba and Raksamgre under Tikrikilla C&RD Block, West Garo Hills, have petitioned the C&RD Commissioner & Secretary, over prolonged administrative vacuum at Tikrikilla Block.
In a representation today, the GSMC said the block has been running without a regular Block Development Officer for the past two months, leaving administration “rudderless” and development at a standstill.
Implementation of MGNREGA, PMAY-G, NSAP, job-card issuance, bill clearances and grievance redressal have been hit, leaving rural populace “running from pillar to post,” GSMC Chairman Rimjen Ch Sangma said.
He termed Tikrikilla as one of the most populous and backward blocks of West Garo Hills and said it needs a dynamic, accessible and people-centric officer to restore accountability.
The NGOs unanimously proposed Dr Weena Yancey M Momin, presently Assistant Commissioner, Baghmara, South Garo Hills, as regular BDO of Tikrikilla. The representation described her as an officer of “impeccable credentials and proven administrative acumen” with a pro-poor approach.
