Shillong, Oct 7: The District Mental Health Programme, South West Khasi Hills, in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women and Hapneh U Kyllailongsngun CLF, Umdohlun Cluster, observed World Mental Health Day today at Umdohlun Market.
The programme was held under the theme ‘Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change’ to promote awareness and encourage people to share experiences and seek support.
Psychiatric Nurse B. Snaitang highlighted the importance of mental health and urged people facing challenges to come forward for treatment. She also sensitised the public about the Tele-MANAS helpline.
Case Worker of One Stop Centre Werialty Lyngdoh Peinlang spoke on violence against women, services of one stop center, women’s rights and laws relating to protection from violence at home, workplace and public spaces.
Umdohlun Headman F. Lyngdoh Langrin urged the community to recognise the importance of mental health and build a supportive community. Cluster Coordinator Edilbert Marbaniang stressed community-level health awareness.
A skit ‘Ka Bor Na Lade’ on mental health was presented by PHL Group and another skit on environmental cleanliness by Tyllilang VO, Mawkhlaitngap.
