Shillong, Sep 29: The Meghalaya High Court on Tuesday pulled up the state government for filing an incomplete report on crematorium and burial sites across the state.
A division bench of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh noted that the report deals only with 60 crematorium sites. Some sites have been identified but verification is ongoing and financial assistance will be released only after completion of prescribed requirements.
Amicus Curiae N. Syngkon submitted that the report does not specify any time-frame for completion of verification and only covers crematorium sites, leaving out burial sites which were also required to be considered.
Additional Advocate General H. Kharmih sought further time to place a comprehensive report on record.
The court listed the matter for October 16.
