Shillong, Sep 29: Stereo Groove from Nagaland was crowned winner of Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s NE Star 2026 — the music talent hunt for Northeast India — at its grand finale held in the region.
Pateng Band from Meghalaya was declared first runner-up and also winner in the Mogo category, while Naad Band from Sikkim took second runner-up. Special Judges’ Choice Awards went to Samuel (Nagaland), Pallavi (Assam) and Immanuel (Mizoram).
16 finalists from across the eight Northeastern states battled it out in the finale after over 300 registrations and state-level auditions. The talent hunt was open to singers, musicians, bands and choirs aged 18-35, with two finalists from each state making the final cut.
Finalists were judged by Parikrama founder-keyboardist Subir Malik and Music Connect founder Kaushik Dutta on talent, stage presence and performance. Celebrity singer Deeplina Deka performed at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Sachin Sharma, Vice President – East Region, Sales-Service-Used Car, TKM said, “NE Star was conceived to give young artists a platform. We have witnessed extraordinary talent, dedication and creativity. The finale celebrates both musical excellence and the rich cultural heritage of the Northeast.”
TKM said initiatives like NE Star reinforce its commitment to youth aspirations and cultural development.
