Shillong, Sep 29: A morning hit-and-run claimed the life of a youth leader in East Jaintia Hills.
The deceased has been identified as Mihsalan Thoo, a resident of Rymbai village and President of the Hynniewtrep Youth Development Council (HYDC), East Jaintia Hills Unit.
According to information received, the incident occurred today at around 5:20 am at Lad-Jalyiah when Thoo was hit by an unknown vehicle. He sustained severe injuries and was shifted by his family to Civil Hospital, Khliehriat, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police said the matter is under enquiry and efforts are on to trace the absconding vehicle.
