Shillong, Sep 8:Meghalaya’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) BDR Tiwari today informed that 95 percent of all notices have been delivered to the voters concerned, with only 31,005 remaining pending for delivery.
A total of 6,51,735 notices have been generated, of which 6,20,730 notices have already been delivered.
The CEO directed all DEOs/EROs to make every effort to complete the delivery of the remaining notices at the earliest and ensure that the concerned electors receive adequate opportunity to attend their hearings and furnish the required supporting documents.
The CEO informed that so far 2,08,870 hearings have been conducted, representing 32.05 percent of the notices generated. So far, 384 electors have been found ineligible following scrutiny and the prescribed process of hearing.
He informed that out of the 21,69,243 electors included in the Draft Electoral Roll, 2,22,786 electors have been identified under the “No Mapping” category, while 4,28,949 electors have been identified with mapping discrepancies.
Accordingly, 6,51,735 electors have been identified for scrutiny and appropriate action in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
The last date for filing claims and objections is September 18, the last date for disposal of claims and objections is October 17 and the final publication of the electoral roll will be on October 21, 2026.
