Shillong, Aug 24: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted in Laitumkhrah, with his father lodging a complaint at Laitumkhrah Police Station.
The victim has been identified as Vedrinhio Salgado R. Marak, resident of Government Quarter, Member Hostel, who was reportedly heading out to buy clothes when the incident occurred.
According to the FIR filed by his father Namsrang R. Marak, at around 9.30 pm on August 22, he received a call from his son’s mobile number made by an unknown boy informing him that his son was lying unconscious and bleeding from his mouth near Bansara Eye Care Centre and that 108 had been called.
Marak said he immediately rushed to the spot but his son had already been taken to Civil Hospital, Shillong. At the hospital, doctors informed him that his son was in critical condition with bleeding from his head, nose and mouth. Though he requested to shift him to a private hospital or Guwahati, doctors advised against it given his serious condition. The boy was later admitted to Supercare Hospital, Shillong.
Marak said he does not know what happened to his son or who he was with at the time. He said his son had left home around 12 pm saying he would be in the MLA Hostel compound, and did not respond to phone calls until the unknown caller contacted him from his son’s phone.
He has urged police investigate the incident and take action against those involved.
