Shillong, Aug 24: The statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at R.R. Colony, Shillong, which was desecrated by unidentified masked men during the KSU rally violence, will be restored and re-installed.
The decision was taken at a meeting held recently at the office chamber of the Director, Arts & Culture, to discuss repairs of statues of Swami Vivekananda and Netaji at R.R. Colony.
According to the department, it will take necessary steps for restoration and re-installation of the Netaji statue on priority.
The office bearers of R.R. Colony Welfare Society will take steps for repair and restoration of all civil works relating to both statues in collaboration with the department.
The meeting noted the desecration incident on August 19 and deliberated on immediate restoration and condition of associated civil works at the site.
