Shillong, Aug 24: As the situation starts returning to normal between Assam and Meghalaya following tensions that arose out of last week’s violent Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) rally, Meghalaya has designated certain police officers to coordinate with their counterparts in Assam for the smooth movement of vehicles and people between the two states.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Security) B Nongsiej will be the nodal officer and he will coordinate with all the districts in Meghalaya and also with Assam.
Information of vehicle numbers stranded in Assam and Meghalaya areas are to be shared with Meghalaya SB control room and this be provided to the concerned district Superintendent of Police/police control room for providing necessary assistance/escorts.
SPs of all districts in Meghalaya are to communicate with Assam Police whenever there is a need for providing police escorts for vehicles and people proceeding towards Assam.
